The church
is based on the desire to follow the transformational
example of Metropolitan Community Churches,
which had begun in USA when Rev Troy Perry
held the first MCC service in his living
room in Los Angeles on the 6th October 1968.
Metropolitan Churches accept Jesus as our role model, and
we preach Jesus' Gospel of love and acceptance.
Modern
Biblical scholarship throws new light on
the traditional “Texts of Terror” which
have been used to condemn homosexuals and
homosexuality.
Professor
Virginia Mollenkott tells us to “Accept
our sexuality as a gift from God, and then
live it responsibly”. As our sexuality is
from God, what right has anyone to make
it a burden to us? Jesus didn’t! Don’t let
anyone separate us from the love of God.
Gay,
Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Intersex
and Questioning (GLBTIQ) people have been
excluded and persecuted by parts of the
mainstream Christian Church.
The Gospels record that Jesus mixed with,
accepted and promoted the cause of those
that the society of his time rejected and
despised. Jesus lost favour with the religious
leaders of his day because of his social
justice and anti-discrimination stance.
Jesus accepted all people.
